Free camp to be held Saturday, June 23 at BB&T Field for grades 1-8
INDIANAPOLIS – National Football League and former Wake Forest defensive back Chip Vaughn will be holding his inaugural Hungry and Humble Youth Football Camp on Saturday, June 23 at BB&T Field in Winston Salem, N.C. The camp, which is free, is open to grades 1-8. Chip relishes at the opportunity to give back and be active in the lives of our youth, especially in the Wake Forest community. In addition to Vaughn, former Wake Forest and current NFL players will be on hand to help coach those in attendance. Donations will be accepted and will go towards Vaughn’s foundation, The Chip Vaughn Hungry for Life Foundation, which is aimed at raising money for special needs/chromosome 18 research as his daughter was born with Trisomy 18. To register for the camp, visit ChipVaughn.eventbrite.com. Registration is currently open and will run through June 6. All participants will receive a T-shirt, lunch and souvenir. About the Chip Vaughn Hungry for Life Foundation
The Chip Vaughn Hungry for Life Foundation was started by Chip Vaughn in an effort to raise money for Trisomy 18 research, along with helping families that have a child with Trisomy 18. Trisomy 18 is a genetic disorder in which there is a third copy of material from chromosome 18 instead of the normal two. Children born with this defect are only anticipated to live a few hours after birth, if they are even born alive. Chip’s first-born daughter, Natalia, was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 just a few days before her birth. Baby Natalia was born Wednesday, May 16, 2012 and fought a hard fight, but passed away 6 days after she was born. Chip has a vision of raising money to help with the research doctors need to either prevent or cure Trisomy 18. Every child deserves a chance; everyone is Hungry for Life.
