Free skills camp for youth, Winning 7on7 team will receive $5,000 towards high school program
SULLIGENT – Arizona Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson will hold his 4th Annual Walk-On to Champions Football Camps on Friday and Saturday, June 13-14th, 2014. On Friday, June 13th Rashad will host a 7-on-7 high school tournament. Friday evening, Rashad will host his 2nd Annual Celebrity Basketball game featuring his NFL colleagues and former Alabama players. On Saturday, June 14th Rashad will host his 4th Annual Youth Football Skills camp for kids grades 1st-8th; all events will be held at Sulligent High School in Sulligent, Alabama.
The Walk-On to Champions Foundation, started by Johnson, was established to provide courage, strength and support for youth to chase their dreams. Through Johnson’s support of his Walk-On to Champions Youth Football Skills Camp and 7-on-7 High School Tournament, he is providing strength, and personally demonstrating that the road to being a champion can begin anywhere.
Rashad Johnson’s 7-on-7 High School Tournament
Friday, June 13th, Johnson will premiere his 2nd Annual 7-on-7 High School Tournament at Sulligent High School. The double elimination tournament will feature 8 of the areas high schools to compete for a $5,000 reward to benefit their high school football program.
Due to the Alabama high school guidelines, high school coaches having contact with their players at this time of the year is restricted. In return, Johnson will have fellow NFL players and former Alabama players serving as honorary coaches for the tournament. Players slated to be on hand include: Antoine Caldwell, Mike Adams, Stephen Williams, Beanie Wells, Patrick Peterson, Early Doucet, Philip Tanner, William Powell, Jerraud Powers, Josh Chapman, Greg Toler, Justin Bethel, Jamell Flemming, Andre Roberts, and Mark Barron. Each team will receive free t-shirts, autographed souvenirs, and lunch during the tournament.
The high school tournament will be free and open to the public. There will be a FREE NFL player autograph session from 8:30-9:15am for fans. The anticipated kick-off time for the games is 10am.
Celebrity Basketball Tournament
The night of the 7on7 High School Tournament (Friday, June 13) there will be the 2nd Annual Walk-On to Champions Celebrity Basketball match hosted by Rashad and his fellow NFL teammates and former Alabama players in the gymnasium of Sulligent High School. The celebrity game will begin at 7:30pm with doors opening at 6:30pm, and tickets will be $5. There will be autographed memorabilia raffled off during the game. Kids that attended the 7on7 High School Football Tournament and the youth that will be participating in the Youth Football Skills Camp will be admitted for free. The $5 admission and the raffle will both benefit Rashad Johnson’s Walk-On to Champions Foundation.
Walk-On to Champions Youth Football Skills Camp
Rashad Johnson’s 4th Annual Walk-On to Champions Youth Football Skills camp is set to take place on Saturday, June 14th at Sulligent High
School. The camp will be open to the first 250 preregistered campers grades 1st -8th. Early registration will begin on April 1, 2014 and close June 7th. Campers may register the day of the camp, however once the 250 spots have been filled registration will close. Each preregistered camper will receive a free camp t-shirt, autographed camp souvenir and lunch. Camp will take place from 10am until 1pm with check-in beginning at 9am. Throughout the duration of the camp, autographed memorabilia will be raffled off benefiting the Walk-On to Champions Foundation.
The campers will have direct interaction and coaching by Johnson himself, along with Johnson’s fellow NFL colleagues and former Alabama players. This camp will not only be a great opportunity for kids to work on improving their skill sets, but to have positive influence from the Pros they look-up to and admire.
